  • Direct gevolgd door contactamoebicide behandeling:
    1e keuze clioquinol po 5mg/kg (suspensie LNA 100mg/ml) 3dd gedurende 10 dagen

General comments

  • Percutane aspiratie onder radiologische controle + metronidazol biedt geen voordeel boven alleen metronidazol bij ongecompliceerd leverabces door amoebiasis. Aspiratie overwegen als diagnose onzeker is (o.a. serologie niet-conclusief of niet beschikbaar) of bij dreigende perforatie. Voorspellend voor de behoefte aan aspiratie: 1) grootte abcessen > 10 cm; 2) betrokkenheid van beide lobben van de lever of abces in de linker leverkwab; 3) Aanhoudende koorts na 4 dagen medicamenteuze behandeling.
  • Entamoeba dispar (apathogeen): geen behandeling.
