General comments
Voor kinderen <1 maand bij wie een sepsis/ meningitis nog niet is uitgesloten dient intraveneus gestart te worden. Zodra bloedkweek en liquorkweek negatief zijn kan na 2-4 dagen oraal uitbehandeld worden.
Wanneer orale antibiotica bij aanvang van behandeling niet gegeven kunnen worden, behandel dan eerst intraveneus gedurende 2-4 dagen, gevolgd door een oraal antibioticum op geleide van het gevoeligheidspatroon.
Men dient altijd rekening te houden met de resultaten van eerdere kweken.
